Privacy Policy
Effective June 13, 2026 · Last updated June 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how PreCode collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our website, join the waitlist, or use the planning product when it is available to you.
Who this applies to
PreCode ("PreCode", "we", "us") provides a planning tool that helps founders turn startup ideas into structured documentation for humans and AI coding agents.
Today, the public website is waitlist-only: you can browse marketing pages, read MCP docs, and submit the waitlist form. The full in-app planning experience described below applies when you receive access.
This policy applies to visitors, waitlist signups, account holders, and anyone who creates projects, completes interviews, generates documents, or exports files through PreCode.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, information generated through your use of the product, and limited technical data needed to run the service.
- Waitlist information: email address (required), plus optional role, company, use case, and notes when you join the waitlist on our landing page.
- Account information: email address and password (stored via our authentication provider) when account creation is enabled. Optional profile fields such as name if you provide them.
- Project intake: project name, idea summary, target user, problem statement, and app type when you create a project.
- Interview and planning data: answers across guided planning sections, session progress and recommendation drafts stored in interview sessions, normalized answer metadata, and project complexity profile fields derived from your inputs.
- Generated artifacts: specification and execution documents, document sections, version history, extracted assumptions, trace files, and internal package-check results.
- Export records: metadata about ZIP and single-file exports, including timestamps and storage paths when a ZIP is saved for re-download.
- Communications: messages you send us if you contact support.
Information collected automatically
When you use PreCode, our hosting and authentication providers may process standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, and session identifiers. We do not use third-party advertising cookies in the MVP product. Product analytics (for example PostHog) are described in our roadmap but are not a core part of the current MVP unless we enable them and update this policy.
How we use information
We use your information to operate PreCode and deliver the features described in our product documentation, including:
- Creating and securing your account and projects.
- Running the guided interview, including section recommendation drafts, answer normalization, and automatic advance between sections when you save.
- Deriving and updating a project complexity profile to tailor question depth and documentation detail.
- Generating, storing, editing, and versioning planning documents.
- Running internal package checks and document repair after document generation (manual edits are not re-checked).
- Building and storing ZIP export packages, including optional re-download from private storage.
- Supporting destructive "start over" actions that wipe planning data you choose to reset while keeping your intake summary on the project record.
- Improving reliability, security, and support for the service.
AI processing
PreCode sends portions of your project and interview content to AI providers to generate section answer drafts, normalize answers, produce documents, run internal package critique, and repair generated documents. Providers we use include OpenAI and DeepSeek (through our application's task-based model routing layer, which may send different requests to different models depending on the feature).
Do not submit sensitive personal data you are not comfortable sharing with these processors (for example government IDs, health records, or secrets). You are responsible for the content you enter.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and project data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. You may delete content by using in-product actions such as "start over," which removes interview answers, generated documents, quality results, export records, and stored ZIP files for a project while preserving basic intake fields on the project.
If you want account deletion or have questions about retention, contact us at the email below. Backup and log retention by our providers may persist for a limited period according to their policies.
Security
We use industry-standard measures appropriate for an MVP SaaS product, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), authenticated access, and database Row Level Security so users can access only their own projects. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can export your planning documents from the product. To exercise other rights, email us and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
PreCode is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International users
If you access PreCode from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your own.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
